Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2025
1. Overview
The AI Basketball Association (AIBA) is committed to being transparent about what data this platform collects and how it is used. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the AIBA website and simulation platform.
The short version: this platform is a local simulation tool. It does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not sell data to anyone.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The AIBA platform does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or account credentials
- Payment or financial information
- Location data
- Browsing history outside of this platform
- Any personally identifiable information (PII)
3. Local Data Storage
All league data — teams, players, game results, trades, statistics, and articles — is stored in a local SQLite database on the machine running the AIBA server. This data is entirely fictional and simulation-generated. No personal user data is stored in this database.
The application may store session information temporarily in your browser (via cookies or local storage) solely to support navigation features such as flash messages. This data is not transmitted to any external server.
4. Third-Party AI Services
The AIBA Commissioner Console optionally integrates with third-party AI services (such as ChatGPT / OpenAI) to generate commentary, power rankings, and trade analysis. When this feature is used:
- A structured data packet containing only fictional league statistics is transmitted to the third-party service
- No personal user information is included in these packets
- The third-party service's own privacy policy governs how they handle the data they receive
We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy if you use the ChatGPT integration features.
5. Server Logs
When the AIBA web server is running, standard server access logs may be generated automatically. These logs typically include the time of each request, the page visited, and the IP address of the device making the request. These logs are stored locally and are used only for debugging purposes. They are not shared with any third party.
6. Cookies
The AIBA uses a minimal session cookie to support the Flask web framework's flash messaging system (e.g., confirmation messages after commissioner actions). This cookie contains no personal data and expires when your browser session ends. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
7. Children's Privacy
The AIBA platform does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. Because this platform does not collect any personal information from any user, it presents no specific risk to minors in that regard.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
